Long live Betty Ford

I saw this on Fail Blog and immediately came over here to read the discussion but there wasn't one. I read the Wikipedia entry for Betty Ford and was saddened that I hadn't paid her more attention. She was a housewife who argued passionately for equal rights for women, a mother of four who mused about drugs, abortion and premarital sex aloud and without regret. Even just reading the Wikipedia entry makes me wish I knew more. Please post any thoughts, memories or anecdotes you may have about America's BF.
This post was deleted for the following reason: Sorry about Betty Ford's passing, but this isn't a good post about someone who recently died. Please find some substantive links of interesting stuff to share first and foremost, not wikipedia. -- mathowie
I loved her on Golden Girls and also her cookbook.

i, too feel a little sad she has passed on. she was an interesting and compassionate woman who made a positive difference in a lot of people's lives. she also managed to broach really controversial issues, and bring them to public light. RIP.
