Cop pulling DARE trailer charged with DUI Not only a police officer, but according to the Seymour Police Department website, [38-year-old John Newcomb] is the School Resource Officer, responsible for seven schools, acting as a mentor and providing students with a role model. It even states that he conducts lectures on narcotics and alcohol and their effects on driving. Keepin' it real is DARE's new middle school "curriculum".

DARE is what made me aware of mind-altering substances in the first place, so I'm for it as long as it continues to be counterproductive.

Technically, he was abusing the hooch not drugs so he's got that going for him.

I was going to go on about the ridiculousness of .08, but dude clearly was drunk as a skunk, if his mugshot is anything to go by.

My former DARE officer recently shot himself in the leg during what should have been a routine traffic stop. Not sure if the best and brightest officers are the ones placed on the "show middle schoolers what a bong looks like" detail.

They already weed out the smart (not kidding or cynical, I mean that literally--you can't be an officer if your IQ is too *high*). So the DARE guy has gotta be...man.

When I was growing up, the smart kids would weed themselves. Hence DARE.

Does anybody else love how DARE and other campaigns to help kids almost always show signs of being put together by aging out-of-touch baby boomers?

I can already see a smarmy DARE officer in my mind, up in front of an assembly hall of bored 7th graders.
"Alright everyone, I'm Officer Jones! 'Sup!"
*kids mumble*
"Alright, let's try that again... 'SUP!"
*kids mumble 'sup*
"Come on now, let's have some spirit and energy and try that again, 'SUP!"
*kids finally respond loudly just to get the obnoxious lady to be quiet*

There was a young lady in my neighborhood who ran off and spent several years turning tricks for coke, and she was DARE student of the year in the 5th grade.
Reminds me of every hardcore straight edge kid I knew back in the day. Almost every one of them became total alcoholics later in life. I'm pretty sure one of them is sitting in prison for operating a huge weed grow house.

Reminds me of when our grade school principal, who had threatened to fire his interns if they were seen drinking in a bar on their own free time, was pulled over for a DUI.
In his new red sports car.
With his 19 year old girlfriend.
While he was explaining to the ocifer that he was perfectly shober, he puked.
He puked ON THE COP.
Everyone in a small town has a police scanner.
