I am so, so sorry...but cleanse your palate with a little Freebird. I tried to go to the concert, but my car won't start. It's probably the weather; I've had the NOAA radio on all day long - right after I got done watching the Smurfs and Seinfeld.

I need/want more manual control, maybe just a list of text boxes where I can input direct URLs or something.
I'm trying to get it to load videos from this post using B flat harmonics but it's not loading.

Bladerunner.
For some reason it has banjos and drum-and-bass. And what sounded like an electric model plane or car.

That Bladerunner one is awesome. It probably has the DnB because the tears in the rain monologue is a staple in a lot of edm, for example.

I emailed Dave two questions about the work:
posted by codacorolla at 1:55 PM on July 31, 2011 [2 favorites]
And he emailed back an explanation:
Do the colors of the circles have anything to do with the content of
the audio samples?
Is the searching algorithm only going by tags? Or is it also going by
content in the comments / title / description, etc.?
Thanks for the post ... It looks like Pee-wee Herman--of all people--reads metafilter since he tweeted a link to the project right after you posted.. lol so great... Anyway in answer to your questions:He also shared this search, blade runner blues, based off the earlier link to bladerunner. I like it a lot.
The colors of the circles are completely random and are determined at the start of program. As may (or not) have been apparent, each circle represents one of the videos. The size of the circle is mapped to the volume of the audio track for that video. So the bigger the circle, the louder the track. The circles are coded to blend in such a way that they create new colors when they intersect, which is why the colors always appear to be changing. As far as the search algorithm goes, it's using a really simple youtube tag search.. I think! I actually made this project really fast as an afterthought to another thing I was working on and I forget exactly how I specified the search.. I don't think it searches the descriptions.. just tags and titles.
I'm working right now on another (larger scoped) project involving audio collages that I hope to have launched soonish... hopefully within a month or two! I've had these collage ideas for a long time and have only recently started to finally sit down and try to make them.

It's like early Swans without the baseline.
This is kinda col, but I wish it was drawing on public domain sounds. Or CC sounds.
