And Debbie gave me very urgently a summary of this thing.

A Vote for the Debt Deal is a Vote for Treason is the latest flyer from political activist Lyndon LaRouche, reflecting his response to the debt deal. Promising the end of the United States, the end of civilization, a new dark ages and bodies piled in the streets, it sounds extreme but actually serves as a pretty standard example of LaRouche rhetoric.
Some background information on LaRouche. Recently he's turned up on Alex Jones.

This post was deleted for the following reason: Yes, Lyndon LaRouche is a person who exists. There have been posts about him before; I'm not sure this is a particularly good reason to have another one. -- cortex
An object lesson that persistence isn't always an admirable trait.

These guys hold demonstrations in downtown Los Angeles quite regularly. I believe in rational political discourse, which then makes me feel quite guilty when I tell their pamphleteer to fuck off.

About a month ago, the LaRouchies were out on the street with a table, with a poster of Obama as Hitler, just down the street from the Jewish Community Center.
I wonder how well that worked out for them.

This makes me a little nostalgic for the days when wackos didn't necessarily have "Rep." or "Sen." or "Gov." before their names.

Why is LaRuche given any publicity? He's just a crank, nobody takes him seriously.

"the end of civilization, a new dark ages and bodies piled in the streets" is something often predicted by Mefites on threads about capitalism's imminent collapse, "peak oil' or global warming. That's different though.

Well, the glassy-eyed youths who persist in handing out pamphlets around Beacon Hill seem to take him seriously. The good news is that they seem so vacant and slow that they're much easier to dodge than the chuggers all over town.

There were a bunch of LaRouche folks, complete with the Naziism comparisons, out on Market St. last week. We passed them on the way back from lunch and a colleague asked me what it was all about. I'm pretty good at explaining stuff, including quick off the cuff explanations of things I know little about, but his question left me totally speechless. I think I stammered something like "crazy...political...whackjobs," but really: how the heck do you answer that question?

Lyndon LaRouche is a turd
"Turd" is too good for LaRouche. A turd is the end result of a proper digestive process, an amalgamation of unused components of the inputs and a place where various organisms eke out a living on someone else's leftovers. LaRouche displays none of this refinement, none of the sense of deliberation, none of the striving present within a turd.
LaRouche is a half-formed bolus, removed through the viewing port from the stomach of a particularly dyspeptic cow, half-dipped in acid and half-dipped in the alkaline secretions of the small intestine, eluding the grasp of the serious researcher attempting to determine exactly what disease LaRouche's organization - that same bloated, flatulent cow - suffers from.

Some LaRouchie fucks had the gall to show up in Noe Valley, a very gay friendly neighbourhood in the heart of San Francisco. Raising money. For LaRouche, the man whose bullshit political movement tried to quarantine AIDS patients in 1986.

He once argued the US economy dipped because the US stopped dramatically expanding traintracks. Talk about being... off the rails.

Is there a reason we're giving LaRouche free publicity on metafilter now? 'Cause he's loving every shred of publicity he gets. What's next? David Duke predicts financial calamity and worldwide pestilence, ya heard it here on metafilter first!
