I’m done for the night

Since 2007 (or 1997) Dmitry Samarov has been writing and drawing the highs and lows (mostly lows) of driving a cab in Chicago.
According to his twitter feed, he'll be quitting driving a cab by the end of June. The only sad thing about that is that he'll probably stop updating.

reading the stuff on the dive bar while the bar's website is open (autoplaying music and all) is really interesting

Love this. This is Chicago. Off the Mag Mile there are millions of people working their asses off, trying to get by. It is good to hear this voice.

Oh, he drove me to the airport once! He seemed thrilled to someday not be driving a cab and just doing art/writing fulltime.

To young rope-rider: Thanks for the NYC couch offer. I may need that one of these days...The Kickstarter's going well. 77% there!
To Potomac Avenue: Thanks again for the post. One small quibble: my name's spelled Dmitry rather than (the more logical) Dimitry. I've been correcting people all my life it seems...

Damn sorry man. I'll change the tags but I can't change the post. I have an easily misspelled last name so I feel the pain.
I learned about your stuff through your work at the Classical, which is also excellent. Cheers!

Great stuff. I love the watercolors and being in black and white gives them some authenticity and compliment your entries quite well especially in the winter.
Samarov, welcome to metafilter !

These are fantastic. Makes me miss the place, perversely enough. Love the lines in the drawings.

I love when something can be earthy, sublime, and transcendant all at once.

Seemed low to me. But then I was just looking for ways to link some of my favorites.

The MetaTalk thread made about this post. MetaTalk is a place where we discus things that are not directly related to a thread, often so as not to derail them, or sometimes as in this case to specifically point out when the creator behind a post shows up.
