Anyone know where I can get some cheap opium?
Looks like you can get it cheap in Kabul. Might want to pack some heat.

It is very strange that news about Taleban's opium is surfing again because the western media and the United nations itself had announced earlier this year that the Taleban had completely destroyed their crop. Opium is harvested in the month of october and takes about six months for cultivation. Actually, Mr. Colin Powell had given the Taleban $43 million earlier this year so as to cover the losses. Because the farmers werent growing any more opium and did not have the finances to grow other crops like oranges, dry fruit and wheat.
Interestingly, its the Northeren Alliance controled area where Opium is still cultivated. And no such field has been erradicated.
Perhaps THIS article would give a different opinion on the topic.

Stockpiles from previous years. Why is that unbelievable? The US stockpiles oil, butter and wheat.

stbalbach:
Your assumption can be correct. But as both articles tell us that the price of opium has been stable. Thus guaranteeing the fact that the supply hasnt faltered. So, if the taleban has eradicated all its opium, then surely it doesnt have 70% of the worlds opium supply in its stock. I would think thats safe to assume. Therefore that points that the supply was taken care of from other sources. The Northeren Alliance, Columbia and surely Tajikistan. Which is also reported to have the red fileds of dillusion.
