What happened to the future? David Graeber on the failure of the future.
This is an interesting article that postulates that the American/neo-liberal system is failing because it lacks competition previously provided by the Soviet Union and Eastern Bloc. We had a long discussion before about another Graeber article; perhaps this time we can do it in a respectful way that can include the author, who is a MeFi member.

Didn't Avery Brooks (and many others) already cover this topic twelve years ago? 2000 was the magical "year of the future", and 2012 is just the depressing after-party.
