AP reporter's death "accidental"?

The recent death of Armando Montano, AP reporter and intern in Mexico City,has been reported as an accident unrelated to his profession by the Mexico Attorney General’s Office (Procuraduría General de la República, PGR).
But Denver Westword reports that there has been no official report that it was accidental. Mexican newspapers gave a report which his family feel may have misled some other reporting agencies.
I should disclose that Montano is a family friend.
