Superhero Typographic Classifications: "The most distinguishing factor of any font is its characters. Hidden beneath these characters, each typeface also has character—its own unique characteristics. However classified this information may seem, when used correctly, typefaces often speak to us more powerfully than the words that are written with them."

Man, an entire Spider-Man book in that style would be pretty cool.

Is there a typeface that says "Citation needed"?

Sigh.... the pics are great, but (and I realize this is picky of me!) a little better use of grammar would have been nice, too.

These are much cooler than I would have expected if I had known what I was expecting when I clicked the link.

Handwriting fonts accelerate comprehension? Citation needed, indeed.

I'm trying to figure out who would represent Comic Sans. Ambush Bug?

Papyrus should be Aquaman.

Ambush Bug would be Wingdings.

I was gonna say Deadpool for Comic Sans, myself.

Catwoman, Spider-Man and the Flash were great!

Hidden beneath these characters, each typeface also has character—its own unique characteristics.

The character of this characteristic intro is easy to caricature, the character character character cataract catamaran. Here's some moderately pretty but entirely pointless illustrations, illustrating illustriously that form is much more important than content.

I agree laconic. Downright silly and will probably never die.

Catwoman, Spider-Man and the Flash were great!

I was going to say exactly that -- I thought they were pretty good expressions of the characters, with the Spider-Man hearkening back to the original Ditko.

The others I found kind of meh, but I figure that's not a bad batting record overall for the conceit.

...I feel like I'm being pandered to.

Yeah, that too.

Papyrus should be Aquaman.

What, not Hawkman?

I thought first of John Romita, Jr. (I would not be surprised if that specific drawing was used by Olin as reference, actually), but then JRjr's Spidey has the same wiry, slightly creepy look I also associate with Ditko, so I can see where you're coming from. Spidey along with Flash were definitely my favorites.

Also, how about Webdings for Deadpool?
