The US government didn't foster the creation of the Internet? Really?

Gordon Crovitz, WSJ commentator, bravely shatters the "urban legend" that the Internet is an example of the role of government in innovation, to the joy of conservative commentators everywhere, and credits private companies as the only true source of innovation. Shame he's lying.

Journalist say he's lying.
The guy who provided his "proof" says he's lying.
The guy who invented the reason most people use the internet says he's lying.
And there's some obscure technologist functionary who is also saying he's lying.

This begs the question, when does partisan reporting cross the line to blatant, unashamed propaganda.

Possibly at about the same point as a FPP does?

Al Gore took the initiative in creating the Internet. I thought this was common knowledge.
