Red Sox legend Johnny Pesky has died. Boston Globe obituary.
The right-field foul pole at Fenway Park was named for him, and it was not meant to be complimentary.
He was part of the championship 1946 Red Sox team. His number was retired by the Red Sox in 2008. He spent six decades with the Red Sox organization; his biography was entitled Mr. Red Sox. In 2007, he was banned from the dugout after other MLB teams (Baltimore?) complained that non-active personnel should not be in the dugout.
