The Lovecraft Connection (yt) - Jason Colavito's theory that the fiction of H.P. Lovecraft is the source of all Ancient Astronaut mythologies, via Louis Pauwels and Jacques Bergier's The Morning of the Magicians.

The theory got discussed previously in the lecture Chariots of the Dark Gods, featured in this post.

It was strange enough when the "H" in History Channel stood for "Hitler." Now it seems to just stand for "Hokum."

And what would H.P. Lovecraft think of people believing that he was channeling occult truths. I imagine condescending pity.

I am very glad that people are writing these books and investigating this stuff and it doesn't even bug me that much that they have shows that contain documentary-like-substance on the "History Channel". God I loved Art Bell's radio show.

The problem is I know people in real life who take this shit seriously. It makes me wonder what I assume to be true which is just really ridiculous.

I'm not saying it was aliens, but... well, it was H.P. Lovecraft.

Dammit, SPrintF, you beat me to it. I graciously concede the joke.

You had my hopes up that this was a post about this little video.

Lovecraft would die of embarrassment over this "documentary".

And wasn't von Daniken claiming that this started with Ezekiel?

I've heard it too many times to ignore it,
something that's not supposed to be!

Someday we'll find it, the lovecraft connection,
the cultists, the cantors and me.

And wasn't von Daniken claiming that this started with Ezekiel?

von Daniken's claim was that Ezekiel's visions/voyages were contact with alien agents, the Ancient Astronaut theory. Jason Calovito's claim is that von Daniken's theory itself came from the works of Lovecraft, who wrote of extra-terrestrial beings coming to primordial Earth as gods.

All things considering, I can't imagine Lovecraft allowing telepathic communications from aliens. Unless they were from old New England Anglo-Saxon families, he wouldn't have much time for them, I am afraid, no matter how advanced they were.

Plus, they would ;robably be heterogeneous aliens or something.

There's a lot of damnation in this thread.
I'm concerned.

You should all be careful after dark.
