Hellbent For Election

An odd thought: Harry S Truman once called Thomas Dewey the little man on the wedding cake.
Well, better that than the little man on the Lego Used Car Lot...

First time I ever saw the entire thing. Thanks.

Apparently Thomas Dewey was objectively pro-Hitler.

Actually, that was Alice Roosevelt Longworth, socialite and daughter of Teddy.

"Campaign Champagne - No Proof" as drunk by the party who attempts to lull Joe to sleep sure sounds like the kind of joke that would still be appropriate today. Almost frighteningly so.
"They're growing big red apples / that Hoover is promoting / If you don't want to sell those apples / Start voting, man, start voting."
God, that song is so awesomely cheesy but so represents my idea of what government should be, I think my mother must have accidentally listened to it a million times while pregnant.

My son fell in love with this when I saw it a few weeks ago. I think it was linked here on metafilter.

Actually, that was Alice Roosevelt Longworth, socialite and daughter of Teddy.
In retrospect, it certainly seems more likely to have come out of her mouth than his, so thank you for the correction.

I, too, liked those details. Sadly, both are still far too relevant today.
