Well, his view is more detailed than mine but that's not too far off from what I unfortunately believe. And it wouldn't have mattered who won the election, either. We'll see.

I dunno, I don't mean to be glibly dismissive but I fail to see what this kind of doomsaying accomplishes.
Well, it's not my job to defend the post, but the claim that there is no serious counterforce in the US to either ecological or imperial catastrophe seems pretty right-on to me. I think the hope for the doomsaying is to help mobilize one.
