Presenting the Higgs Boson

Finally at long last after many years and billions of dollars/Euros... The Standard Model is complete. The scientists at CERN have announced officially that the Higgs Boson has been found ( previously ) . Now what? You can bet it is going to cost more than looking at a flea.

I wonder if they deliberately chose today to announce it.

The existence of Majorana fermions, particles that (among other properties) act as their own antimatter and annihilate themselves, has been debated for more than seven decades.
I'll be damned if that doesn't sound like something Douglas Adams would write. I love you, universe.

Where is the announcement? A post at CERN's website, dated today, says this:
On 4 July the ATLAS and CMS collaborations announced that they had both observed a new particle, consistent with the long-sought Higgs boson. "Though we don't yet know the full details of the particle announced in July, it is looking more and more like the Higgs boson first proposed in 1964," says Heuer.
That doesn't sound to me like a definitive announcement that the Higgs has been found. This article, from yesterday, suggests the announcement is coming in March.

Yeah, they announced it in July. They didn't announce anything new today.

Moderators you can delete this article it adds nothing new. Thanks. I'll give my reading comprehension a swift kick. This is just a list of scientific breakthroughs for 2012.

Well, the journal Science just announced the July detection of this particle as the Breakthrough of the Year.
