Did The Register headline say what I thought it said

Boffins have put together a new computer system that attempts to translate protolanguages, the ancient "parent" tongues from which modern languages evolved. That "boffins" (whatever they are) came up with a computer to translate ancient languages is pretty cool.
What got me, though, is the headline. Can we give kudos to whoever it was managed to put "cunning" and "linguist" together in a single headline?
