Why the long face?

Tired of animal activists protesting the conversion of his employer's cow slaughterhouse into a horse slaughterhouse, Tim Sappington responds with a video of himself shooting what looks like a healthy, young horse in the head. (WARNING: VERY DISTURBING VIDEO in 2nd link--especially for horse-lovers...and I don't mean Bronies...maybe them too.)

Evidently he was fired--I'm assuming for making things worse. Who wants to eat horse anyway? Why such a young horse you ask? According to activist friends, young horses often get slaughtered because it requires an investment to train them, so it's easier to sell them for food (former racehorses are often slaughtered, because they only know how to go really fast and turn left).
