Even though I seem to have lived in "PEE-can" territory most of my life, I cen remember a friend of my Mom's saying, "It's pick-AHN. A PEE-can is something you keep under the bed."
Grandma always said "may-nays." I guess that falls under "other." Maybe it's a result of spending childhood in "man-aze" country and adulthood in the land of "may-uh-naze."
I know WAY too many people who say "cold slaw."

The nuts are peCAHNs, but the pie is PEE-can pie. As the Southern child of Yankee parents I am 100% positive about this.
