GCHQ steps on The Guardian, crushes hard drives

The news about Glen Greenwald's partner's detention is still making waves, but a new and even more ominous story has just broken. Alan Rusburger has confirmed that about a month ago, GCHQ, the British equivalent of the NSA, forced the newspaper to hand over hard drives containing the Guardian's material relating to Greenwald's research and physically destroyed them. This despite Rusburger noting that copies existed elsewhere, and that Greenwald himself was working from Brazil. The Guardian has moved their base for these investigations to New York City.
