Exposing the ridiculousness of the "not mine" policy. I've been lurking MetaFilter for a bit but this is my first post. As someone that frequents other communities, I've noticed different policies regarding users posting links to their own writing. MetaFilters seems pretty straight forward as I just encountered this, "I am aware that if I am linking to something that I created, had a part in creating, or something that was created by a friend of mine, my post will be deleted and I will be banned from the site with no refund." -It is a shame that it needs to be this way, don't you think? Is it the case of "you give an inch they take a mile?"

This post was deleted for the following reason: whoops, my bad. This is a self-link and you are banned. -- jessamyn
