My Modern MET recently highlighted a studio that makes handcrafted globes, Bellerby & Co. Globemakers . Want to see more? Visit Bellerby's blog.
This post was deleted for the following reason: Cool but it looks like we had a post on them just six months ago. -- LobsterMitten
Bellerby's is described as one of only two studios in the world that makes handcrafted globes. I couldn't find the other, if anyone else knows who they are, please link to them!

A very quick googling brings up US-made Custom Hand-Crafted Wooden Globes and the world's biggest manufacturer says they're handcrafting their high-end globes, so chances are there's more than two. Guess it depends on how you define handcrafted globes...
(might just be me, btw, but I found the wired's photo captions rather annoying. bellersby only appears in one photo afaict, so why is everyone labelled he/him?)
