Marsupial Mischief in Melbourne

'Possum Wars' documents the problems posed by the urban-adapted Brush-tailed Possums of inner Melbourne. Europe has it's Squirrels, and North America has Squirrels, Racoons and even Opossums. Australia has none of these, but a very resilient marsupial occupies a similar ecological niche.

This 55 minute film is about the lives of urban possums, the people who love them and people who don't, and how people try to solve their differences and try to solve the possum problem, or just get along, really. If you have ever wondered what urban life in Melbourne is like, this is an aspect to consider. No deliberate cruelty to animals is depicted but, if you are sensitive to this type of thing, there are some brief shots of possums with superficial wounds (inflicted by other possums) and some scenes with animals in distress. It's about people helping each other to solve common problems, and working out their differences in a civil manner with lots of footage of Possums being Possums. I thought it might be worth a share, today.

The name of this animal is the brushtail possum. They can be very awkward neighbours — I heartily detest the ones that periodically infest my roof space.

Mod note: Edited post to fix the name at poster's request.

Video is geoblocked in the US, which is a shame, because I'm from Melbourne and was all ready for some hate-watching. This noise was every night of my childhood.
