Nothing is wrong with an obit post. Just post more than just the obituary itself. Find something interesting about the deceased and try to create a eulogy of sorts. Better discussion, better links make for a better front page post.

It's unfortunate that before his brain disease was disclosed, he was the victim of uninformed rumors in tabloids and gossip columns suggesting he was constantly drunk, like Arthur; and later as his health failed, that he had AIDS.

My grandmother also died due to complications from progressive supranuclear palsy. It's a nasty disease that slowly paralyses it's victims until eventually their throats cease to function and they starve or choke or their lungs stop functioning and the suffocate.

As unfortunate as this death is, his family should be greatful that his final days weren't even worse.

Andy was insecure about his bad teeth, which his orthodontist always scolded him for. Then there was the time one of his Uncles humiliated him at his first communion, pointing out that his fly was open and roaring in laughter, a painful experience Andy discussed in a recent interview.

I'd just like to reiterate what others have mentioned in passing. Television is mentioning Moore's solo film acting career with 10 & Arthur (and conveniently avoiding his bombs like Best Defense) but they're almost completely ignoring his golden age with Peter Cook. They were like Abbot & Costello Meets Monty Python with a particularly surrealistic bent to their comedy. Enough could never be said about that unique pairing, which deserves more than a footnote in comedic history.

A big reason why you don't hear much about Not Only But Also (the Dud and Pete show) is that the BBC, like many broadcasters in the 70s, taped over most of its archives to save money and storage space. The thoughtless, tight bastards.

Chris Moyles, BBC Radio 1 DJ, pointed out how disrespectful the papers have been with announcing Moore's death.. headlines like.. 'DUDLEY IS NO MOORE' and 'DUDLEY IS DEAD'. However, he decided to stoop to their level for a minute.. with this cracker.. 'Legless Dud Dies of Broken Brain'
