The other Coachella.

Noe Montes' parents were migrant farm workers. He was, too, as a kid. Now he's a photographer, and he went to the Coachella Valley, east of LA, to meet the kind of folks he grew up knowing. He found himself astonished at the heroes he met - folks who held the poor, immigrant community together through sheer force of will. Organizers, grandmothers, kids who decided to stay. His photographs and profiles, like Montes, exude a quiet dignity. Beyonce it ain't, but it is a remarkable American story.

This post was deleted for the following reason: Heya, sorry, it's against the guidelines to post projects by friends, and it looks like the photographer here is someone you've worked with. -- LobsterMitten
