Avoid passing judgement till you know their story...

WaPo article about the resource officer at Marjorie Stoneman Douglas school. The article describes how he showed up after several shots had already been fired (with consequent casualties that he could not have prevented, no matter what).
It also talks about the on-the-ground reality of the situation, which for me, added a lot of nuance to the events.
Prior to reading this, I must confess that I had jumped to label him ineffectual and/or a coward, but I'm not so sure anymore. Short of some sort of x-ray vision, I don't know how anyone could have gone in there, located the perpetrator, and stopped him fast enough to prevent further casualties.
Overall, it reminded me that one can be too quick to judge others, until one knows their story.
This post was deleted for the following reason: Heya, it's an interesting bit of context on that whole awful situation, but a post that's framed like this -- as basically personal editorial thoughts on a charged subject -- isn't really a good fit for the front page. -- cortex
