This is great! (Also, it will serve as a legal precedent if I ever need to sue MetaFilter in the event of a future data breach.)

I think this is a sentiment we can all get behind...
Buttt seriously - could this ruling open up a floodgate of sorts? The article said that a number of other lawsuits had been filed. $600-$10K per person affected could make bad actors like Equifax actually start, you know, thinking about IT security...
either way, this should be a heck of a MeFi IRL party, and I hate that geography and my schedule compel me to miss it. :-)
