And here, my Precious, is the Site Map of TOLKIEN -- the official website of the Estate of John Ronald Reuel Tolkien. It is a museum, library and near universe of almost all things Tolkien

For example: his Letter to the poet W. H. Auden 7 June 1955

or...

his Painting, to name but a few...

Let other horrible workers etc. etc...

One site to bring them all, and in the linking bind them

I can't be the only one who clicked through hoping to see a map of Middle Earth with all of the place names replaced with links to various resources.

As a matter of principle, I always refer to the man as "Jolkien Rolkien R. Tolkien."

How has Reuel not become a popular name amongst non-hebrew speakers? It's beautiful!

The main thing people seem to have been talking about wrt/ the Tolkien Estate website is its updated fanwork policy, which people are worried is going to be bad for stuff like At the Edge of Lasg’len.

Up until a couple of years ago, I used to cycle past the graveyard where he's buried on my daily commute, and it's almost a better "museum" of Tolkien than any exhibition (and I've seen a few!) ever could be. Visit his grave at any given time and you'll find it covered in all kinds of tributes to the man left by pilgrims to it: well-wishes, letters, poems (many written in Elvish), oh-so-many rings, flowers, etc.

I suspect the caretaker of the graveyard does more routine curation of Tolkien's estate as a result of their weekly cleaning and maintenance of the site than his academic archivists (many of whom are my former colleagues at the Bodleian!) do!

In Seattle, Bruce and Brandon Lee are buried in the Lakeview Cemetery just north of Volunteer Park. Their graves, albeit on a much smaller scale, are similarly decorated with grave gifts.

The final letter to Christopher about his wife Edith is beautiful.

One name to Reuel them all.
