Why geckos stick. Some California scientists have finally figured out how gecko lizards can stick to almost any surface- their feet have lots of tiny hairs that use frickin' Van Der Waals forces. Whoa. Says one scientist: "I just saw the movie 'Spiderman' and I realized that some day we'll be able to do even better than he does sticking to things." Sounds like a project for the MIT Superman research labs. Here's the original paper.
