Audio's next big thing? The American Technology Corporation proudly (and finally) presents a bug free Hypersonic sound system! No more unwanted interference! (Hat tipped in jonmc's direction.)
Yea, it is cool but I bet in 5 years, after the marketing guys have learned to use it you will wish that it didn't exist. Noise spam will drive us nuts.

So many potentially brilliant uses. And yet I just know that the first a lot of people will hear about it will be from some Candid Camera-esque show, where they make some sap in a shopping centre think he's hearing disembodied voices that no-one else is aware of.

Now if only car engine and airline jet's sound could be directionally aimed at the people using them. What a pleasant world that would be.

In a movie theatre. Have the cones physically scan the audience like a spotlight in a concert moving back and forth. It would create real 3D sound as it passed from one ear to the other.
