[RSS PSA] Posts you may have missed...

PSA: Like a lot of MeFites, I keep up with the site via RSS -- specifically Feedly. In fact, their stats show there are nearly 2,000 subscribers to the same MetaFilter feed I use on Feedly alone. Unfortunately, this feed is hosted on Google's aging Feedburner platform, which is increasingly unreliable as a service. This manifested last month when Feedly was unable to update the MeFi feed for several days. If Google eventually shuts down the service, then anyone depending on that feed to stay engaged with MeFi may lose contact with the site without even realizing it. The good news is that the site has a new set of self-hosted feeds that should remain active no matter what Google does. So, if you read the site using an RSS reader, please take a moment to update your reader to the new feeds -- and check inside for a list of FPPs you might have missed during the outage.

Can someone explain how to get the best out of a Feed site like Feedly ?, when I tried to use it I just got a whole lot of breaking news stories with no analysis. How for example could I get a feed on interesting book reviews on subjects I found interesting. ?
I've found Metafilter the best general feed because it covers a wide variety of subjects with good analysis and citations.

RSS is short for Really Simple Syndication - it’s a way for websites to publish a ‘feed’ that announces when there’s a new article on the website. Feedly is a ‘feed reader’ that can subscribe to those feeds - when a website adds a new article to a feed you’ve subscribed to, you’ll see it appear in Feedly.
In order to get a feed of interesting book reviewers, you’ll have to add some feeds. Feedly has a listing of feeds you can search and subscribe to, but whenever you find a site (say, on Metafilter) that has reviews (or anything else) you find interesting, figure out whether it has an RSS feed, and add it to Feedly. Rinse and repeat until your feeds runneth over, unsubscribing from anything that doesn’t float your boat.
