A campaign to get rid of those annoying AOL Cd's has finally launched. just because it says free, doesn't mean we want it.
This post was deleted for the following reason:
This started at least a year ago. Why has CNN just now picked up on it, and why is it now making the rounds again? (It was also on /. today).
Hopefully the additional mainstream publicity will bring them closer to their goal - I too would love to see this happen... Doubt it'll influence their marketing techniques though.

The AOL discs appear in magazines, at the movies, in the mail and at parties
I once saw one in (no shit) a package of Kraft Singles.
How Cheezy.
it had to be said

Mmmm Kraft singles and AOL - 2 things not good enough to pay for. I don't know how they did it, but Kraft managed to make passable American cheese awful by individually wrapping it.

knowing that AOL has somehow managed to make its way into the food industry has produced a greater fear in me of AOL and their sick ways

The genius of AOL is their faux giveaway marketing. They've duped countless millions by dangling "free software" in their face. Their product name is constantly on potential consumer's lips, and people try it because the service came to them, they didn't have to go to the service.
That being said, I can't stand AOL, and it's mindless followers.

I hope they do a blast fax every news organization they can find before they make the delivery. The photos will be great. Meanwhile, they'll be arrested, fined, and forced to pay for dumping on AOL's property.
Don't get me wrong; I'm all for their cause. I'm just feeling particularlycynical pragmatic tonight.
