OMG. Think of the children.

What an "outrage"... for anyone complaining about this, let them get shot by a juvenile, and then try and tell us that the pain and medical damage are any less than if they had been shot by an adult...

You pick up a gun to fight in a war, you also pick up the responsibilities and consequences. Don't like it? Don't pick up the gun in the first place. Aside from which, the detainees in Guantanamo are in majority people from outside Afghanistan who came to the place especially in order to become terrorists.

Man, clevershark, it would be so cool to live in world that was as easy to navigate as yours! Think about it--none of those messy trials, no coercion, no mitigating circumstances! Why even have a concept of "children" at all? Wow.

Right you are clevershark, and furthermore, until actual evidence is available, we should take reports like this with a grain of salt.

Evidence rather than hearsay is preferable.

'Children younger than 16 are being held as "enemy combatants" in the American detention camp at Guantanamo Bay, the US military admitted yesterday' - From the first line of the Guardian article in the FPP.

Just what counts as evidence now hama7?

dumbshark (and friends) So, if Willy lets uncle Benny play "down there", he is also picking up the responsibilities and consequences? Do you believe in consensual sex between children as young as 13? What about between adults and children? And don't give me any crap on organ maturity: the brain is an organ too.

blind7 That is 3 sources, including at least one major international news agency .... QUOTING BY NAME a U.S. military spokesman: Lt. Col. Barry Johnson. Hearsay my ass.

why not post in the original one day old thread, instead of this one, which is practically certain to be killed?

I personally wouldn't object if this was reposted every day until those children got a fair trial.

Heck, I'm feeling generous today: Fair trial for everybody.

I wish all the kids in my workplace for Bring Your Brats To Work Day were in Guantanamo instead.

I honest to god don't see how this makes x-ray any worse. It's already fucked up, adding people below a certain arbitrary age (in this case 18 - why not 19 or 17?) doesn't matter.

Poor hama.... the kid never gets to be right.

A seven-year old kid was arrested this week in the county I live in for trying to rob a video store with a toy gun (although rather real looking for sure).

Yes, well, France has three-year-old home invaders, so it's apparently a worldwide epidemic.

What I want to know is: how many of these kids have had a birthday or two in those rat cages since the U.S. has been holding them captive? In other words. How old were they when they were captured?

How old were they when they were captured?

How old was John Lee Malvo, the illegal immigrant, and murderer of Americans? The Columbine killers were 12 and 13.

Even if there are detainees under age 18, a fifteen-year old's bullet is just as deadly as anyone else's.

I can't see why the money is being wasted detaining them, and the sole "proof" of their ages is a statement saying:

"Three boys aged between 13 and 15 are among about 660 inmates at the controversial camp, a US military official told the Guardian, on condition of anonymity."

So, an anonymous statement from an unknown source is kinda sorta almost as good as fact, right? I mean the Guardian wouldn't just be editorializing and making the story up to generate controversy or to further an agenda, would they? Would they?

As I said: a grain of salt. Until actual sources come up with actual facts and actual proof, this is just opinion, not news.

And if it's news, why is it here?
