Manager or Leader?

Are you a Manager or a Leader? Actually, there appear to be at least seven types of leaders. Your type of leading is determined according to your action logic. Are you just an Opportunist? Or are you good at leading society-wide transformations?

are you good at leading society-wide transformations?
Working on it. So far so bad.

It's "for every complex problem, there is a solution that is simple, neat and wrong". It's not worth saying that there are wrong solutions to complex problems.
Maybe I need to work on my action logic.

Do you happen to be MLOGS on this particular management weblog?
I only ask because your website on your Metafilter profile includes "<meta name="author" content="©2003 Jaap de Jonge, Value Quotes">" in the markup, and coincidentally a similar string appears in the "managementlogs.com" markup, making me rather curious if you are engaging in the frowned upon practice of self linking.

Seems silly to just link to a list, there are a lot of management and leadership strategy stuff out there, and there is no way to evaluate the article without reading it, which costs $6 at HBR. I am a bit suspicious about the self-link thing as well.

Holy crap, cmonkey.
I hope you didn't spend more than 20 minutes trying to nail this guy for self-linking.
I thought the post was kind of interesting...for what it's worth.
There exists a huge body of research concerning leadership styles, and most of the individuals I've worked with exhibit a variety of skill sets. I don't think it's possible to characterize leaders based on narrow definitions.

My action logic tells me to lead the link in the 8th leadership style with a transformation into the society wide ether.
