Baxter ran for office on the Republican ticket, iirc, about ten or so years ago.
As far as the 'stache, maybe he's looking to take over for Bolton inside the administration. Can't have too many FlavR-SavR facial adornments, innit?

I'm partial to "China Grove" for it's simplicity and cunning ability to down incoming ICBMs at a moments notice. But who doesn't like it for those reasons?

Heh. Even though I liked the Doobies, Baxter's solo on "Reelin' In The Years" stands as his premier contribution to rock and roll. A truly excellent peice of work, that.
