Marijuana Party leader arrested following joint raid

Marijuana Party leader arrested following joint raid. On Friday, local police and the USA's Drug Enforcement Administration raided a Vancouver storefront which openly served as the headquarters for a marijuana seed-selling business, run by Marijuana Party leader and pot entrepreneur Marc Emery. Although charged with no crime in Canada, Marc Emery now faces extradition to the USA and possible life imprisonment.

In Canada, selling marijuana seeds is a crime, but has not been enforced for a decade -- his supporters claim he's even declared his business and paid taxes. It's raising questions about Canadian sovereignty as well as the nation's own contradictory attitude towards the drug.

For Canadians the idea of spending time in an American prison is not unlike how Americans probably feel about doing time in a Mexican prison.

I find this whole story absolutely revolting. Just when I was starting to see Canadian cops in a more positive light, I'm forced to admit that in the end they may be no more than whores to yanqui interests.

The American DEA was involved? That just shocks me.

Anyway. If i was a vociferous marijuana reform advocate, I'd never touch the stuff. That's just too obvious.
