Reader2 A very nice social site allows you to keep your reading list and - main purpose - find something interesting to read looking at users with similar tastes, or similar books to those you added, or just by browsing the site.
There's also another one - which has no competitors yet, for software - MyProgs.

This is me on MyProgs. The new look over there is ugly though. The minimal del.icio.us look from last month was heaps better.

It seems like social software for libaries is the big thing now. I posted about LibraryThing recently, which looks to be quite nice--endoresed by languagehat, even!

The problem with Reader2 is its a link farm to Amazon with "reader2" user tags to generate profit from the goodwill and work of others. Pirates!!
I wish someone would replicate all the features of Amazon (review blogs, rateings, user lists, suggestions, etc..) without the commercial trappings, and open source the content of the reviews so they can be exported.

Reader2 allows the person entering the review to generate their own link, to amazon or elsewhere. The reader2 tag is entered only if the user tag is left blank. I don't see a problem with that.

11 already shipped, which resulted in $6.60 - at 5% referral rate. All this for 2 weeks, with ~2000 unique visitors daily.
I don't see any problem with them using associate links. The site needs to cover it's costs and as Manjusri said users can replace the amazon link with their own.

kuchin, from the guidelines: Posting a link to your homepage and asking for feedback is a bad post. Self-promotion isn't what this site is about.
