Saw this on boingboing. As cool as this is, it won't reach its full potential 'till we can download great fan-made levels.

Wow, that's really neat. I thought it was a ridiculous idea for an FPP, and then I clicked, and .. it is very cool.

Holy crap this is awesome! My gf is playing SMW on my Gameboy Micro as we speak! Can't wait to put my own level on there and surprise her.

Now if someone would just make a custom Mega-Man power generator...

This is nice and all, but it doesn't compare to the Super Mario World level editor that I already have... IN MY MIND!

Karubi's shoe on every level.

I did it all for Tanooki; Tanooki
So I could get Karubi's (shoe)
And stick it in my
And stick it on my

eh, you get the idea.

(To the tune of the Super Mario Bros. theme.)

Not le-gal, that's not legal
Violating copy-right: il-le-gal
Tromping on some-one else's blood, sweat and work
doesn't seem ve-ry nice (*ve-ry-nice!*)
But we all get a free game for us to play
Shut up jerk.

There are actually some great games already made with this editor. Most notably, Super Demo World and Super Mario Odyssey. Lots more here.

damn... I was really hoping for Mario sailing all over the Mediterranean, winning favor/disdain with the Gods, to return to the suitor seeking Princess Peach.

There's no good SNES emulators for a GBA either.

True, but it does exist, but no sound and the screen size limitations is a bit of a bother.

SNESDS is much better, but you'll have to jump through some hoops in order to use it on your DS.

neustile writes "furtive: don't think you'll be able to create levels for a GBA SMW ('Super Mario Advance 2') -- it's a different rom, different processor, everything. There's no good SNES emulators for a GBA either."

While its true there are no "good" (meaning 100% true) SNES emulators for GBA, they do exist. PocketSNES fills this role, and one of the games that does work very well is, wait for it, Super Mario World ;¬)

Tromping on some-one else's blood, sweat and work

Funny, I seem to own a cartidge copy of SMW from my preadolescence. But naturally, I'm a sociopathic douche for wanting to use the same game on a different machine.

Yeah, somehow I doubt Miyamoto-sensei is seething with rage over this.
