Yeah, this site's been around for at least a year. Not new at all.
I have two PBF questions:
1) On the official site, this week's cartoon is an excellent Edward Gorey homage. But the print version (at least in the Baltimore paper) is a different cartoon -- one that looks to be done in the old PBF style. Why?
2) This cartoon used to have different dialogue. (It used to be "The police have a witness, Slim", and "I don't recognize any of these men.") It was changed just a few weeks ago. Why?

I think the news is that the pbf is now located at thepbf.com instead of cheston.com/whatever/etc...
but the comic still links from cheston.com. Oh well. I just hope this allows him to update consistently, now. It's basically a crap shoot whether he'll update on monday or as late as friday. And hey, his comics involve a lot more drawing/painting work than most comics I read, but I feel hollow inside when I go to see the new pbf and it's not there.

To address some of the irritated people on this thread.
1) The site I linked to has more content than the original pbf site.
2) If I say "I now have a pair of shoes", it's up to you to read into this statement either :
"I have just recently obtained a pair of shoes"
or
"I'm notifying you that I have had shoes for a while, becuase it's noteworthy and been 3 years since we've talked You never talk, you never write, what am I, chopped liver and since you're a bunch of ungrateful snarky bastards, you dont deserve the shoe related information that I am passing on to you.
What's that molly the unicorn? You want to play? No, don't stick that horn there its not nice....aaaaaaaaaaagggghhhhhh

painquale: There are also earlier examples where the ones published on citypaper are different than the ones on thepbf site. The one I remember is where the cars go undersea exploring (drowning their occupants). The one in citypaper was less graphic.

Some of them are random. The dinosaur and the gopher will bring up at least two separate entries, maybe more.

The main PBF page at cheston.com/pbf has been exactly the same since 2004, and thepbf.com as well. Maybe you were thinking the archive page was the only page.
Also, that poor Cheston guy! I'm sure he's mad now that the page he helpfully offered to host has eclipsed his own.

Can someone explain this one to me? I don't think I'm familiar with the movie he's (I assume) referencing, so it just makes no sense to me.
It's been bothering me ever since it appeared in the Guardian last week.

chrismear, maybe it's a reference to the fact that the web version of the comic for that week is better.

Well, I doubt that, because as all of us know who obsessively click the archive link throughout the week until finally it has a new cartoon, The Throbblefoot Aquarium is not the current cartoon. It showed up almost two weeks ago. I've been wondering where this week's is since late last week. This one with the chimp doesn't help, because it seems, unlike every other PBF strip I've read, to make absolutely no sense.
Anybody have a (better) key to unlock this one?

Based painquail's comment, I thought that perhaps Throbblefoot was deemed unsuitable for print which resulted in the chimp comic. The chimp comic makes little sense unless one were to assume that it was a joke referring to Throbblefoot.
How dare you assume that I do not obsessively click the archive!

Heh. I'm obsessiver than thou!
The only problem with that explanation is, why would Throbblefoot, unlike dozens of other in-your-face-offensive cartoons, need to be replaced? As a former alt-weekly cartoonist, I know there's no legal restriction on a broad parody of someone else's style, though PBF lacked the requisite "Apologies to Gorey" that should be there as a courtesy. And the other only problem is, why is there still not a new cartoon in the archive?
Yes, you knew there wasn't, didn't you?
