It's Just A Plant “Farmer Bob?” she called out.
“Hi there,” said the farmer, coming out from behind a corn patch. “Nice costumes!”
“I came to teach my daughter about marijuana,” said Jackie’s mom.
“You’ve come to the right place,” answered Bob. “I’ve got some growing right now. Let’s go look.”

Quite trippy that mom and daughter dress up as Sgt. Pepper before they go on their, ah, trip.
Doesn't seem too PC to have the all-black group of marijuana smokers - where's the diversity?
And when was the last time a cop wanted to enter into a discussion on the history of drug law, in the middle of a bust? Personally, given the cops stance on ganja, I think she just doesn't like black people.
I'm waiting for the sequel, "It's Just a Few Years", when Jackie accidentally rats out her folks to the narcs at school.

Let me use this thread as a place to update the ramblings of another marijuana thread - SMOKING MARIJUANA DOES NOT CAUSE LUNG CANCER: here's the abstract of that study.

Oh, and smoking pot in front of your kids is the best way to make sure they never smoke it. Worked for me, at least.

i'm not sure if its indoctrinating as much as remediating the garbage coming from DARE or the partnership for a drug free america. Their "education" programs have done more harm, with a recent study showing that it actually increased drug use among suburban participants. The book mentions that its only for grown-ups and that its not for everyone, so im not sure where youre finding the creepiness.

What, you mean like books that teach children about evolution and stuff?
Personally, I've always found that people who object to giving kids factual information, claiming that it's some kind of 'indoctrination' are plain creepy.

I'm looking forward to "It's just a synthetic entactogen of the phenethylamine family" and "It's just the sap of a kind of poppy".
I mean, I'm not opposed to legalization of marijuana or anything, but the whole "it's natural, so it must be good" thing is hippie bullshit and needs to stop. Some of the most potent poisons known to man are 100% natural and can be derived from organically grown, free range, humanely treated botulism cultures.

The linked previous thread seems to suggest only the cover and four pages of the book were there when this was posted. Since it seems you can read the whole book now, or a lot more of it, this isn't really a double I think. I really like the slightly eery perfect 80s educational illustrations and layout. Not bad at all.

Tryptophan-5ht: sure, and as long as you just smell the flowers (they release mildly euphoria-producing stuff in the late afternoon) instead of smoking/eating the seeds it won't hurt ya. We've got a baby one on our windowsill right now...
