the data of a million lives

"Kids today have no sense of shame or privacy. They are little fame whores who post their diaries, phone numbers, and stupid poems on the web."
As younger people reveal their private lives on the Internet, the older generation looks on with alarm and misapprehension not seen since the early days of rock and roll. The future belongs to the uninhibited? >>

whenever i see a double i think i'm having an acid flashback. but then everyone else calls it what it really is and i remember that i've never done acid.

Problem is - you can't be sure. The major side-effect of taking acid is to create amnesia about taking the acid - in other words, you are not really "remembering" that you've never done acid, you're hallucinating the memory of remembering you're never done acid. Which, I think, proves that you've done acid, probably more times than you could ever hope to remember. In fact, there's a good chance you're on acid right now.

As long as they aren't doing acid on the internet I don't see what the big deal is.

I'm beginning to suspect that the reason that double posts get deleted is not that doubles are inherently bad, it's that the first ten commments are snarky variations on "Didn't I see this before?"

Hey, I have a great idea for an article about how today's yute are nothing more than fame starved attention-whores. I'd like to post this article to a well trafficked web site along with large color pics of said attention-whores along with the web sites that they're members of. Who's with me?

Re doubles, is there a way to search fpp for links? I.e. to search for http://www.nymag.com/news/features/27341/index.html
as a link in a previous post?

pastabagel type site:metafilter.com www.nymag.com/news/features/27341 into a google search field. However it's not finding it probably because it hasn't been spidered yet.

The future belongs to the uninhibited?
Sure!
As long as the uninhibited don't mind having to change jobs every 3-4 months because their employers object to the stuff on those MySpace pages.
