Thank you! Thank you! I saw this in the early '70's and have always wanted another look at it. I still remember thinking "gee, i had no idea Swedish was so close to English!" before the joke sank in.

Ha, funny. Now I can't help envisioning hordes of brits traveling to Stockholm with high hopes of connecting with the local youth because "Swedish is so close to English."

Sounded much more like a weird Russian-infused German to me.

Last year, on AskMe.

There's also a French & Saunders parody.

Both of these are more about the mediated experience of watching a Bergman film (probably with someone forcing you to be very, very serious about it all), than they are truly deep deconstructions of Bergman. Still, I found them a fitting way to pay tribute today.

(I only wish they'd ended De Duva with Death being forced to tediously dismantle the badminton set and pack it in the original box.)

Homunculus, den här filmen är fantastiskt! Tak så mycket! It brings back memories of seeing it as a little kid in the seventies. I can still hear my father laughing when the dove shat in Death's eye.
