This reminds me that I haven't read this week's Post Secret blog yet. I love the picture the guy found to go with the "I regret I chose money over my family" confession.

So many of them are assholes!

It's refreshingly honest, I suppose.

“I had to place my dog into the pound due to lack of money. I wish I hadn’t. I wonder if someone adopted him?”

So sad.

“People think that I’m poor because of the way I dress. I have over $1 million in the bank.”

Hmm, if you'd throw that money into a low-risk low-reward (but better than your regular savings account) investment you could afford better clothes.

(Wishes I had a million bucks to sit on.)

“Lending money to my friend cost me my closest friendship.”

I'd rather give my friends money over lending it to them. Simiarly, selling used cars and real-estate between friends.

You know what's surprising about that list? The photo credits at the end. How often do you see that?

Oh, and some of the confessions were funny.

Then stop wasting money on all that ripped and tattered Abercrombie shit. $25 for the jeans, $100 for the holes.

The juxtaposition of the confessions with the photos was perfect. Thanks for posting this, LadyBonita.

“The biggest mistake I ever made was choosing money over my family.”

The best decision I ever made was to reverse such a decision for myself. It's never too late.

i once counterfeited a dollar. i worked at a copy shop and was on the color copier one day. i was really bored, so i decided to see if i could make money. it was hard as hell and took a couple of hours. the machine didn't do two sided copies automatically, i had to do it manually, so lots of trial and error. it came out a little bit wrong, with several distinctive mistakes, but was overall pretty good. i spent a few hours crumpling the paper up to get it old. i didn't have the guts to use it though, so i just threw it on the floor of a bar that night.

fast forward a year later, i'm having lunch with a friend who remarks that his dollar is kind of messed up. after he looks at it for a moment he says "oh, they just cut the border off on one side". that was one of the minor mistakes. i spent two hours on the thing and was pretty familiar with the errors. i grabbed the dollar from my friend and after examining it, had my fake dollar back. what are the odds of that!?!? a whole year later and a few miles away from the bar. (this happened about fifteen years ago).

@porpoise I have given my friends money instead of lending too. That way when they can't/don't pay it back we still have the friendship. And the amount can leave my mind that way. I don't know if I could do a major sale between friends though, the most I ever did was sell a friend a scooter--but a car or house? That would seem to be many pitfalls and a longstanding friendship is more valuable than a mansion any day.

“I don’t leave tips on principle no matter how good the service.”

I'm honestly baffled. To what principle could this person be referring?

I "gave" my friend money and he still avoids me like the plague because of the guilt. Just don't do it. If you have to do it make they pay it off some way by mowing your lawn or giving you rides to the airport. If I had to do it over again I would have made him pay me $10 a year for the rest of his life.

a whole year later and a few miles away from the bar

Did you ever find out what your friend was doing down on the floor of that bar?
