What an exquisite ascii fish you created Effigy2000 and a cool post too. Love the fishmouth part with Dory speaking whale in finding Nemo.
Adding to the awesome fishiness, brilliant illustrations of deep sea fish by Japanese artist (flapjax or somebody who reads Japanese please hope me fill in the name of the artist). And my own fish post, Frankenfish.

I really like nickskye's links.
I just took a very, very brief scan of the website (it's not that well laid-out, but it appears the illustrator you linked to has worked for a variety of Japanese research institutions...

You have reminded me that I really want to watch Finding Nemo again. :)
I have a special relationship with the Frankenfish movie, btw. I was in a captive audience watching that movie on a Turkish bus in 2005 (trust me, it sucks in all languages) & then last year I got hired to design cheesy aim gifs for a bunch of movies. Including? Honestly, what are the odds...

Well, that's quite the amazing site you found there, nickyskye! Asked my wife to try and find the illustrator's name, but alas, after looking through various pages there she was unable to find it. The name might be swimming about somewhere in the deepest depths of the watery website, but if so it's one of those curious names that rarely see the light of day, prefering to remain cloaked in mystery, down in the darkest, coldest regions of that vast and often inscrutable ocean we call the world wide web.

For several days after leaving Nantucket, nothing above hatches was seen of Captain Ahab.
The mates regularly relieved each other at the watches, and for aught that could be seen to the contrary, they seemed to be the only commanders of the ship; only they sometimes issued from the cabin with orders so sudden and peremptory, that after all it was plain they but commanded vicariously.
Yes, their supreme lord and dictator was there, though hitherto unseen by any eyes not permitted to penetrate into the now sacred retreat of the cabin...
