Excellent. I'll bet Thom Yorke will be singing about unicorns, puppies and how generally awesome things are in the universe.

I've been around here long enough to remember when a post about the new Radiohead album was something people actually looked forward to. I feel old.

And in other news, there's still no sequel in the works to the film EraserHead! Thousands of fans of David Lynch's work were reportedly seen to have shrugged. AND NOW SPORTS!

They're going to sell it as a download, but what format?

I'm sure I'll enjoy it, but I feel like their music hasn't really grown or changed much in the past few years. It all sounds so... similar...

Beautiful website - I love that moving background. I'll probably spring for the "discbox" because I like vinyl, but it's pretty interesting that you can enter in any price you want for the digital download. "It's up to you." I wonder how that will work out for them.

If you choose the Download option, you can pick how much you want to pay for the album. The discbox, however, is 80 bux. Looks like you get a hell of a lot, kind of like the special edition of Kid A (if anyone has seen that...). So, pretty cool! I didn't pick 0.00 so I don't know how little you can choose to pay, but I'm guessing at least 1 GBP.

If on average they get a shiny new nickel for each download, I understand they'll be doing better than if they had gone through a typical label.
The question is, considering just to reward their behavior I tossed them a couple bucks: Will I get it first from the official site or from oink?

I like the "it's up to you" option as well. In fact, I wasn't planning on buying their album, but their option changed my mind. I'm strangely tempted to pre-order the download for $10 or more -- whereas, without that option, I would have probably have downloaded most of the album through scattered links from various music blogs and the like.

Established artists who can sell their work outright over the net will do so, and high street chains will dwindle. I've just given them £40.
Make with the slings and arrows. I'm allowed to like a band. Stating a preference is never bullshit.
