With so much attention paid to Radiohead's new album, I think it's acceptable to mention the new Pink Floyd box set, coming next month. Most of the content will be previously-released material, along with some new artwork. So, will you buy it?

This post was deleted for the following reason: actually no. feel free to take up your radiohead discontent in metatalk about this but seriously don't do this here. -- jessamyn

So, will you buy it?

You can still actually buy music? I thought that they outlawed that.

*checks calendar*

Err, sorry, that doesn't happen for a few years yet. Time travel is confusing.

Pepsi Pink.

And speaking as someone who can recite the lyrics to at least 12 Floyd albums, I'm keen to learn exactly what part of the web this is the best of.

Awesome! Pink Floyd! I bet their stuff that's old enough to be decent has barely ever been re-released, almost certainly not in a previous box-set!

Not so sure a best-of-album really merits a FPP.

There's a lot of talk about Radiohead's new album? Huh.

Shark? check
Ramp? check
Sufficient velocity? check

The Lucasization of Floyd is now underway.

Why would anyone buy a new Pink Floyd album?

Before I moved, when I was trying to sell off all my crappy albums, I got stuck behind two high school kids and their dad, who were trying to get the full run of Division Bell bootlegs. And I was like, What the fuck are you teaching these kids? Why would anyone spend money on Pink Floyd bootlegs past, say, '75, and shouldn't you just be downloading the damned things anyway? Even worse, if you had one Division Bell bootleg, why the fuck would you want more of them? The only thing that made sense was that these were somehow undercover Syrian agents, looking to stockpile bloated dad-rock, which they'd use somehow to dirty-bomb our classic rock stations.

I think schlaager's pointing out that the Radiohead disc didn't deserve a FPP either. At least not one that didn't go into detail on the "pay what you like" pricing structure.

Is this some kind of protest post? If so, lame. If not, well, lame.

Well, it was supposed to be a sarcastic post, pointing out that a new album release is not front page material, and a best-of from pink floyd, which has been done so many times, is like giving Bush a third term.

Violates WP:POINT. Oh wait, this isn't Wikipedia. That policy should still apply here, though.

Aye. If you're going to do it, plz goatse the front page or something outrageous. This, on the other hand is a bunk protest. You see, now there are twice as many bad posts about albums and box sets as there were before. One of them, however, is worse than the other.

If we allowed every sarcastic comment on silly FPPs to remain as its own post, then this would be MetaTalk.

If I'm not mistaken Alan Parsons Project's back catalogue (at least some of it) recieved the full SACD treatment a while ago.

Please refrain from turning that into a post.
