Dick Cheney Changed His Mind

In 1992, following the end of the Persian Gulf War, then Secretary of Defense Dick Cheney articulated the Bush (George H.W. Bush, that is) administration's arguments for not invading Iraq. He concluded by saying, "If you get into the business of committing U.S. forces on the ground in Iraq, to occupy the place, my guess is I'd probably still have people there today instead of having been able to bring them home...The bottom line question for me was: How many additional American lives is Saddam Hussein worth? The answer: not very damn many." He has since changed his mind.

It's not exactly current at 3 years old, and it's not the best of the web, so ...
Well, it was fun while it lasted.

I don't see any problems with that. A person grows over a span of twelve years and sees things they didn't see before. He now realizes "not very damn many" is roughly equivalent to several thousand.

Awesome. Tell me you joined just for this.
I can bet whose posts you read that led you believe that this kind of stuff is good material for Metafilter.
It's sad that you saw that and were misled in that regard.

A Tragedy
Death!
Plop.
The strategy in the mideast flops.
Flip, flop.
Above, beneath.
From the slimy neocons the truthiness drops,
As they scraggle black on the thin grey sky,
Where the black cloud rack-hackles drizzle and fly
To the oozy Cheney, who flips and flops
On the black scrag piles, where the loose words plop,
As the raw wind whines where the buck never stops.
Flip, flop.
And scudding by
The POTUS calls out hoy! and hey!
All is running blood and sky,
And my head shrieks -- "Stop,"
And my heart shrieks -- "Die."

Good thing they are not all one religion, otherwise Bush would be kind of like Hilter in his early years. FTW

One must ask if in 1992 how much Financial incentive Dick Cheney had in invading Iraq.
