I was just reading about vocal nodules today (kinda like the third link).

I really don't know what else to say except every time I read anything about voices, it strikes me as how utterly bizarre it is that we can make the variation on sounds from them in conjunction with our mouths as we do...

That page totally needs an NSFW tag on it.

If someone happens to wander by your desk and see those first two pictures on your screen, you can't be shouting:

'It's voice boxes! I'm looking at pictures of voice boxes!'
'Yeah, yeah. So they've found a woman with a talking cunt. Has she been signed by Golden Casino yet? Put herself up on Ebay?'
'I'm serious. It's really a voice box. Read the words beside the pictures!'
'TL/DR/You're fired.'

Oh. God.

Still, the first link made me snicker for the sheer random combination of what I was seeing and hearing.

Strange. I'm a singer, I ought to be fascinated by photos of vocal cords-- but instead they seem somehow obscene: that something so hidden, so personal, so within, should be so brazenly shown.

(Peter McDermott: yes, the larynx is rather like a vagina: we spend our whole lives using it, but we never see it.)

I am not a singer, though I am a musician, but I find this fascinating. It certainly gives me a new appreciation for the amount of control a singer needs to exert over what is an unseen instrument -- one we often take for granted or simply use intuitively.

Neat to see, thanks for he post.

A bit eponysterical.

And it made me giggle.

Still, I'm scared to show those links to my children.
