This post was deleted for the following reason: The post builds this up but it's really pretty standard training materials, no insidery dirt to be found. -- mathowie

Forget service/retail. ALL large organizations that deal with a flow of similar items (customers, bombs, cupcakes, criminals, whatever) have a protocol. That protocol is then programmed, either into a robot or into a human, depending on the field and the amount of variation among the items.

I fail to see anything controversial about this so-called leaked document. Do you really want to forget to order drinks with your taco, especially if you get the extra spicy sauce. ;)

While I've not worked in food service (thank God), I've worked retail quite a bit, and I assure you that these robotic micromanaged service protocols are mandated by corporate and immediately ignored at the store level. Your local Taco Bell manager does not give two shits about whether you waited exactly five seconds before disengaging from a non-responsive customer.

In other secretive insider news, movie theater employees are instructed to "upsell" the concessions by suggesting a larger size concession that costs a very small added amount. Also, strippers are encouraged to "upsell" by roaming from table to table, convincing patrons to buy them overpriced soft drinks, and then offering lap dances.
