Parents charged with murder file Wrongful Death suit against city for not preventing them from starving their disabled daughter to death. Ok, so, let me see if I have this straight. They starved a 14-year-old kid with cerebral palsy to death, and now because apparently city officials ignored reports they were abusing her, the parents want $50,000 for wrongful death? Now, I don't doubt that parents horrible enough to let their child die because they were embarrassed by her disability would do something like this, but shame on the attorneys who agreed to sue on their behalf. There MUST be a line somewhere.

This post was deleted for the following reason: if you care about this issue it would be a good idea if you could not editorialize in your FPP. Trust people to know it's terrible, focus on finding good links. -- jessamyn

Uh, I agree but this is some pretty terrible editorializing.

This is legal gamesmanship, ten to one. I suspect they're bringing the suit because they want leverage against the state to drop it. But then, how much leverage could it bring? All I know is, whenever you read about an "outrageous" tort suit, you're almost always seeing the fin and not the fish -- there's a whole untold story behind it.

I predict that at some point in the future, someone will sue metafilter for not preventing them from editorializing in their FPP.
