Garfunkel & Oates Experience the joy of potty-mouth songs played on the ukulele.

My favorite songs: Fuck You, Worst Song Medley, and the one to send to every pregnant woman you know: Pregnant Women Are Smug.

All songs available for download here. (For FREE!)

Bonus: Dear Deer

Hah! Somehow, I just assumed that this must have been on MeFi at least a month ago. Still, it's fun stuff, particularly if you find pregnant women to be smug.

Hold on, when you said, "the one to send to every pregnant woman you know," you were being sarcastic. Right? Because Mrs. Benson (6.5 months along) was not amused.

Not at all.

If you need to find me, I'll be sleeping on the couch.

In my experience, pregnant women are more often tired, cranky and frazzled than smug.

Last weekend, I played "Dead Flowers" on my uke, to the great amusement of several listeners.

These two seem to have become a meme. A few days ago I followed a link somewhere to a youtube of them: "Sex with Ducks".

That was fun.

It's been a while since I've giggled about someone saying a woman has "been ho'ing," but that's probably because I'm one of those boring old humorless feminists, as opposed to one of these awesome new ones who slag on other women for laughs.

Feh.

The excessive cuteness only goes so far. Like, to here. <-------- Not cute anymore.

Is this where we complain about those minutes lost and never to be regained unless someone gives them back?

Oh now, I don't know. You got your one little yard ape dressed up like a deer, then you got your other little lawn monkey dressed up like a hunter while some pretty lady plays a uke and sings a nice little ditty.

Could be worse . . .

BLAM!

Whatever it takes to get rid of that Lyme disease is okay by me.

No Sex with Ducks?

Y"know, I want to send this to my pregnant "I can eat as many cookies as I want; I"m pregnant, goddammit!" sister, but I'm afraid she'd tackle me.

A MAD Magazine I read sometime circa '89-93 had a bit about "upcoming albums", IIRC. The two jokes that have stuck with me from it are an album from "Garfunkel & Oates" called "Partners Without Partners" and a line about Phil Collins having recorded his new album in a Stu-Stu-Studio.

That's one heck of a haircut.

I think it's worth mentioning that Garfunkel And Oates are, in this song, mocking Pat Robertson for saying that legalizing gay marriage would lead to legalizing sex with ducks.

Kate Micucci also has a small album on iTunes of a few tracks she's recorded. She also recently did a guest spot on Scrubs as Stephanie Gooch, a cute and quirky girl who sings for pediatrics who ends up, in a gesture of complete unshallowness, getting together with the bald, unappealing sadsack of a lawyer, Ted.

Oh and Riki Lindhome was in The Big Bang Theory a couple of months back in the episode "The Cooper-Nowitzki Theorem".

Having spent a little more time on their site, especially playing "Pregnant Women Are Smug", I appreciate them more. Kate (the brunette) just looks crazy, while Riki (the blonde) looks like a barely contained cauldron of rage.

For those who don't recognize the episode of the Big Bang Theory by the title, it's the one where a grad student sucks up to Sheldon and becomes his "girlfriend", hoping to score credit on the paper that results from her nannying.

I want to dislike them, but somehow they make me chuckle anyhow.

I could do without the high school madrigals voice on the blonde one, though.

I wonder if they've ever heard of Flight of the Conchords.

Nah, I don't really.

Their home page picture has bombarded me with hipster-yuppie-ness. Half finished frappucino and all.

Yeah, because those two guys totally invented this sort of thing, amirite?

A: No

Oates is definitely freaky in a good way.

YES. "Dear deer" is the first thing I'd seen Kate in. I was trying to remember it. Awesome, thanks.

Yeah, if anything it seems to be acoustic re-makes of Barenaked Ladies's "If I had a million dollars," with somewhat edgier lyrics. Not a lot of range in there.

Then again, I find Flight of the Conchords tedious. I prefer either legitimately quirky music - Cake, TMBG, ICP - or over-the-top comedy - Weird Al, Tenacious D - ... stuff that's neither here-nor-there is kind of boring.
